As part of our ongoing efforts to provide consistent and streamlined data across Morningstar products, we are making updates to the Essentials email feed.

These changes will take effect on February 3, 2026, for the January month-end delivery. This extension reflects our commitment to supporting your transition and ensuring stability through year-end.

Below, we’ve outlined the key updates, along with attached sample files for all three Essentials data packages: Base, Medalist, and Sustainability.

What’s Changing?

• Email Address Changes: Starting February 3, 2026, Essentials email feeds will be sent from do_not_reply@dataservices.alerts-morningstar.com.
  • Action Required: Please add this email address to your contact list to prevent it from being filtered to Spam or Junk.
• Column Name Updates: To align Essentials feeds with other Morningstar products, multiple data point names will be updated. A detailed list of column name changes is included in the above attached files.
• Consolidated Feeds: Currently, Essentials feeds are delivered as multiple distinct files. Moving forward, each package will be consolidated into a single file.
  • For example, the seven current files in the Base package will become one.  
• Data Point Format Changes:
  • Some data point values will have adjusted decimal precision.
  • Data fields without values will now display as blank instead of the current “-” output.
  • Details are provided in the above attached files.
• Data Point Removal
• Certain data points in the Base, Medalist, and Sustainability packages will be removed to streamline the Essentials feed delivery.
  • Action Required: If you rely on any of the removed data points, please review the attached files and contact your Morningstar Sales Representative to discuss your use case and alternative solutions.

Morningstar Essentials will undergo a database upgrade on Dec. 19, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT. The maintenance may cause potential intermittent inability to download images and PDFs from the emailed feeds.
